SR Obstacle Challenges
Equine obstacle challenges are competitions that test the partnership between a horse and handler. The handler may be on the ground with the horse in-hand with a lead rope and halter, mounted in any discipline, such as western or dressage, or at liberty with no physical contact. Obstacles can include a variety of activities that incorporate real world trail obstacles like bridges and water crossing, or can be silly and exotic like barrels cut in half and painted to look like cows!
Sunset Ranch is proud to host an array of obstacle challenge clinics and competitions in Central and Northern Arizona. Check out our calendar for events near you!
General Info
Each Obstacle Challenge Course is unique and will include 8-12 numbered Obstacles. Obstacles are to be completed in numerical order. Detailed Obstacle Instructions will be made available to competitors no later than 24 hours before a Competition. Rider/Horse combinations may enter a class for a second round for schooling but the score for the first round will stand for the SROC End Awards.
